Hey all. I work at a community center and I convinced my boss to allow me to have a Christmas workshop where children can come in and make a Christmas gift for their Mom or Dad. Do you guys have any ideas on what we could make? I was thinking candles but anything elseyou could suggest to me? Keep in mind we have a VERY limited budget because my boss is Stingy

I am a leader of a Brownie Girl Scout troop. we made these sweatshirts last year!!! The girls LOVED it!!! My daughter is even still wearing her shirt. :) Then, we went Christmas Caroling at the retirement home.

Reindeer Decorations (but we did it on sweatshirts instead)

Materials :

Brown & gray construction paper
Scraps of white & black construction paper (or use wiggle eyes)
Red pom poms
Crayons

Directions:

Trace each child's shoe onto brown paper and 2 hand outlines on the gray paper. Cut out (little ones may need help with the cutting). Glue hand outlines to the toe of the shoe cutout for antlers. Use black and white paper to cut out and glue on eyes or glue on wiggle eyes. Glue on red pom pom nose and draw on a mouth.

These could be made with fun foam or felt and glued onto a burlap backing to make a nice wallhanging for use as a gift for the parents or grandparents. Fold the top of the burlap over, making a casing, and glue. Add a dowel and a hanging cord. Be sure to write on the date somewhere! Or, how about using fabric paints and making a holiday apron for the leaders, using the girls hand and foot prints? Use fingerprints for the nose and eyes, red paint for the nose and black for the eyes. Use a fabric marker to draw on the mouth.

How about picture frames? You can buy very inexpensive, plain wooden ones at the craft store and then left the kids paint them as they wish. If you have a digital camera, maybe you could take a photo of each kid and print it out to put in their frame.

Dog biscuits in the shape of a bone like Milk Bones, et el. make cute magnets. Just put a small piece of magnetic material on the back, glue two wiggly eyes and a red puffy nose in the middle and wha la...Rudolph Magnets. Very cute and cheap too.

Potpouri stockings.....use baby socks with or without lace. Fill with Potpouri, tie with red & green ribbon. Smell good and they can be hung on the christmas tree as an ornament.
