I hear wrapping paper rustling...

I am so angry with Miss Mindy right now. She has been so good with all the Christmas stuff, way better then I expected. She didn't bother the tree, just sniffed the presents after I wrapped them. Well, all that changed today. It has been a very busy day. My mom is a nurse, so she is working this holiday and my grandmother's back has started to hurt her again, so this years Christmas Eve/Christmas festivities are up to me, for the first time in my life. So somewhere between dealing with the visiting nurse, the blood draw pickup, medical supplies delivery, feeding and medicating all humans and animals and getting our dinner/party tray ready for tonight, I begin to hear the faint rustle of wrapping paper. Immediately I realized that Mindy is not by my side and I break out into a full speed run in the direction of the rustling. You can imagine how red my face gets when I see Mindy laying on the floor chewing a present, a nice vellux bedspread for my grandmother to use in the livingroom during the day to be exact. I am so angry, she chewed through the paper, through the plastic and right through the blanket. I was in tears. I had to give it to my grandmother now and she was good about it, saying we could patch it and that Mindy just wanted to leave her mark, but I just feel so bad. It is my fault b/c I know Mindy chews and I shouldn't have trusted her, I just wasn't thinking.

After about an hour of complete ignoring, I forgave her, she knows she was bad. It is her first 'real' Christmas, so I can't be too hard on her, I just wish she would have gotten an ornament instead of a gift :(

Oh it is hard when they get into things isn't it? Try not to be so hard on yourself, you reacted in a completely natural way. Next year you will all look at the blanket and have a good laugh while you remind Mindy of the way she 'used' to chew. Surely by then it will be a thing of the past.

Miss Mindy has come a long way. Sounds like Grandma has got a loving, forgiving heart and that she has surely shared that with you. Wishing you all a lovely Christmas!

!!! I keep waiting for Tyson to surprise me. Last year, I had just rescued him and he was so quiet. Now he is confident enough to risk getting into some trouble for the fun of it. So far so good.
