How often to bring in a sample of puppy poo?

We have had our dog for almost 6 weeks now and I was wondering what the norm is for having your dog's feces tested for worms. Our breeder recommended that we not de-worm her when she doesn't have worms. I agree that I shouldn't pump our dog full of chemicals if it is not necessary. Our breeder has been absolutely amazing about helping us with everything but I feel like I am the annoying person that calls to ask too many questions. I even called her on Christmas Eve to ask her what to do when our little Izzy had an allergic reaction to her rabies shot. I am a paranoid parent. So for this question I turn to Boxerworld for opinions. My question is how often should I bring a sample in for testing? I appreciate any feedback.

With a young puppy, I'd be inclined to take a sample with you any time you're going to the vet for anything else (all her shots, etc). Perhaps also at about 6 months and a year old.

Beyond that though, it really depends on where you live and what the parasite risk is. If it is very high, then perhaps 6-monthly is not excessive. Same if she's ever found to have parasites - checking again 6 months later is a good idea. If the risk is lower, or she never has any, then I would think annually to be quite sufficient.
