how long did it take to potty train your pup? We got Niko just over a week ago and he is doing so well. not one accident at all. we have left him in the house alone for 4+ hours just to see, (mind you we wont get mad if he does have an accident) but he hasnt had one. of course hes going nuts to go out but he holds it. Niko is only 4 months old. also once we knew he understood to go outside to go potty, 2 days ago we started to make him go to the kennel in the backyard to do his business. i woke up this morning and walked outside with him and sure enough he went right to his kennel and peed and pooped. i was so proud of him. the reason i ask is that i have heard it take quite some time to potty train i was just wondering if he is reall learning that fast or is it some type of fluke. like i said we have only had him for 1.5 weeks and he knows "sit", "off", almost "down", is leash trained, and knows to go in his crate at night when i lay down. the lady i got him from never even started training him so im a bit bewildered at how good hes been. oh yeah and he hasnt tried to chew anything but his toys.

I think it took about a month to house train Markus. He had the occasional pee accident after that, but they were rare. He only had one poo accident and that was the day I brought him home. :)

Once Duke hit 6 months he was completely trained. I would say though before that he was about 90% trained...the 10% is from when bf was watching him. He understood it before 6 months, but the inconsistency really hurt him.

Sounds like you are well on your way!

Ah.. the same problem I'm coming across. :) I've told DH how it's ironic that the only time Tyson will have an accident is when he's "watching" him. We've been training him for about a month (he's 3 months old). He's getting close... but not 100% yet.

We had that problem at our house too ;) . Not to say he never had accidents on my watch, but for some reason he had a lot more when the BF was taking care of him. (Same thing with chewed up items!) It took Willis about a month to be solid, we got him at 8 weeks. He could hold it for a really long time by four months. The only slip ups were when it was cold and he didn't want to go outside.

Niko, loves being outside when its dark out more than when its day it seems. he seems to enjoy the cooler air. then at night he will go to his kennel do his business, then run around the yard in circles like hes pyscotic(sp)
