My vet just diagnosed Chance with a histiocytoma on the top of his head. I think he scratched the scab off last night...it's all blood raw but not bleeding. I put some neosporin on it.

I was told it will usually regress within 2-3 months. Does it look this gross the whole time?

If I get it removed, how long to heal?

Splash had one on his ear about 6 months ago, and it was nasty. It did go away on its own, but the vet did say that it if hadn't gone away so quickly she would have removed it. She took a sample of it to just make sure that is what it was. Knock on wood he hasn't had any others pop up. They do look nasty but do go away. Check with your vet again if it doesn't get smaller.

We're getting it removed... I hope it doesn't leave a nasty scar. Sucks that Chancey Boy will have to be sedated.

I'm gonna pay the extra $ for the cancer tests.

The scar is bigger than I expected...but not too bad. Looks better than the little red horn poking out! The surgery didn't slow him down one bit. Now I just have to play referee and make sure they don't play too hard and split the glue open.
