Hi. I'm Annie and I'm owned by one 6 year old boxer named Diesel. Diesel was rescued when he was 9 months old and we think he was abused. He's a sensitive guy and hates loud arguments, but he loves when his family is all in the same room. He's full of joy and bouce and wonderful boxer spirit.
I found this website today when I was looking for information on cardiomyopathy. Yesterday Diesel had an episode-he was wobbling around, unable to get his balance, and was very freaked out. He went to the vet's and they told us it could either be his heart or Valley Fever (we live in Arizona, and this is a common illness found in the soil. humans, horses, and dogs are susceptible-it's also very treatable). The EKG he had yesterday showed spiked abnormalities, but his echocardiogram today showed a normal haert size. Tomorrow we'll find out if he has valley fever, and if not, he'll have an ultrasound and possibly a heart monitor for two days, to see if he has thin heart walls. It sounds sad, but we're hoping it's valley fever, because it's treatable.
This seemed like it happened so very fast, so my family is still shaken and very worried. Diesel makes us smile every day, and we always assumed we'd have many more happy years with him. Coming to terms with reality has not been easy, but we're hoping for the best.
When I was researching heart diseases, I found this message board, and everyone seemed so supportive and encouraging, so I signed up. Thanks for having us.
