Help .My poop eating pup Mr Fecal Freak

So Maximus has a disgusting habit . He likes to eat his poop . I catch him all the time , its nasty . He eats Canidae kibble so he should be getting all the nutritional neeeds met . So how do I stop this behavior .

I go out 4 or 5 times a day searching for his poo to pick it up before he recycles it . Guess hes trying to save me money . When I catch him eating it I tell him NO and then pick it up . He has a doggy door and likes to play outback alot .

I've started calling him my little " FECAL FREAK " .

I know theres daily pills you can give but I'd rather not put chemicals into him and from what I've learned if you stop the pills they will start the poop eating again . I think somewhere someone mentioned to feed them pineapple as it makes there poop not taste good ??? Not that poop should taste good anyways .

I'd say either don't give him free unsupervised time outside or clean up his poop right after he goes.

I've also heard about the pineapple idea. On "It's Me Or the Dog," Victoria Stillwell recommended adding pineapple to the food, having the dog eat out of a bowl with a raised middle (supposedly to slow down their eating and help digestion), and increasing the quality of the food they were using to ensure the dog was receiving the proper nutrients. I wonder if the pineapple has any effect...

My Boston Terror is a poop eater too. Digusting I know! I have tried so many different things to get him to stop with no luck. We tried a product called Stop Eating Poop by Solid Gold - no luck but it made his breath very nice. Forbid from the vets office - no luck. The pills I think are called Deter (capiscasum (sp) pepper) no luck. Prozyme - no luck. However I did read an article last week about a product made by Solid Gold called Seameal. Apparently people are having luck with this in stopping dogs from eating poop. The only sure fire thing I have tried that works is to pick it up as soon as they go so there is no temptation. I have 3 dogs and I go out every time they do and pick up poop afterwards. It seems like a lot of work but it is worthy it not to have to kiss a poopy breath Terror. .

Oh my gosh...I am soooo glad I am not the only one with this problem...My 1 yr old boxer does this as does my 1 yr. old Border Collie mix....Soooooo disgusting!!! I tried Distaste from Dr.s Foster and Smith...no luck they liked it...Vet said to try Forbid...but I read it had wheat gluten...I don't think that is good for the dogs...isn't that what was killing the dogs in the dog food from China?? I sure hope someone finds a solution and posts it quick.
