We think that Java just ate some of my perscription Lyrica (which is used for my fibromyalgia). DH gave her some hydrogen peroxide and I called the vet who referred me to the ASPCA poison control ... but they want $55 to tell me what to do!?! Guess I'm going to have to pay it ... UGH!

That seems strange for them to charge $55. I've called poison control before and have never been charged. It wasn't ASPCA, just the tollfree poison control number listed in the front of my phonebook....but still it seems like they should be dispensing such info for free.

I do hope your baby is ok. Let us know what happens.

Logan accidentally ate just a few rat poison pills the other day. My dad (a veterinarian) used a large syringe to get him to swallow about 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide, and then we walked him around outside for awhile. He turned green looking and then vomited once, and then seemed ok. We gave him another 1/2 cup of peroxide and he vomited once again. The 2nd time there were no more poison pills regurgitated and we were 99% certain that he hadn't eaten any more so we just kept a close eye on him.

I would make sure he vomits a couple of times, using hydrogen peroxide, and use a pencil to poke through what he throws up and count how many pills. If you're sure he has thrown them all up, then just watch him. If not, I'd call a veterinarian and ask what to do next. (Probably a good thing to do anyway, just to make sure.)

In addition, I just found this info from Lyrica's website. It is for overdoses in humans, but it is reassuring that it also says pretty much to make them throw up and then watch them.

http://www.pfizer.com/files/products/uspi_lyrica.pdf
Signs, Symptoms and Laboratory Findings of Acute Overdosage in Humans:
There is limited experience with overdose of LYRICA. The highest reported
accidental overdose of LYRICA during the clinical development program was
8000 mg, and there were no notable clinical consequences. In clinical studies,
some patients took as much as 2400 mg/day. The types of adverse reactions
experienced by patients exposed to higher doses (≥900 mg) were not clinically
different from those of patients administered recommended doses of LYRICA.

Treatment or Management of Overdose:
There is no specific antidote for overdose with LYRICA. If indicated, elimination
of unabsorbed drug may be attempted by emesis or gastric lavage; usual
precautions should be observed to maintain the airway. General supportive care
of the patient is indicated including monitoring of vital signs and observation of
the clinical status of the patient. A Certified Poison Control Center should be
contacted for up-to-date information on the management of overdose with
LYRICA.

That's normal for the ASPCA Poison Conrol hotline to charge $55.....I'm honestly slightly shocked that you aren't going ahead with it. $55 to possibly save your babies life? That's a small price to pay in my eyes. Kaybie once got into dry cement in my garage and I called and paid the fee and they told me what to do immediately and it probably saved her life and her eyesight also. I would have paid anything for the help at that time.......I hope your baby is ok
