Greetings I am a new member. Though I do not currently own a boxer(s), I am really hoping to change this. Currently I am surrounded by my wife's cats. It's not that I dislike cats, I am just more of a dog lover especially boxers. So, I am hoping to alter my animal surroundings.
Growing up I was surround by boxers. My parents purchased a boxer when I was born, Ghengis (Gus). Gus was an incredible dog whose courage was only surpassed by his loyalty. Gus passed at the age of 13. It was the first time that I had to deal with mortality. Needless to say it was difficult to move forward. Up until his death, he was my lifelong companion; a champion of children and a defender of the home front as a would be robber discovered. After Gus was Dixie another grand boxer who would live until my 25th birthday. It's been 12 years since I have owned a dog and I have been feeling that boxer tug for some time.
My situation has not been the best for dog owning but that is changing. With this in mind, I decided that it's time to start looking. But I do not want to make any unwise choices so I am looking to become literate on the breed and the "dos and do nots" of purchasing a boxer as well as some tips with interspecies relations. I know Dixie's favorite chase toy was the neighbor's cat. Thus, I found this site.
I look forward to meeting some new people, sharing my experiences with the breed, and becoming more informed about boxers.
