had a problem with canidea

the last bag of canidea lamb and rice i bought had alot of mold. at first i thought pieces were stuck together but after a day or 2 it started turnin green. needless to say i stopped feeding my dogs this food. i had to make an imeadiate switch on brands due to the fact i drive to a different state to get my dog food. locally i was able to get eukanuba boxer formula but now im searching for a new brand. any suggestions. i was thinking of a brand i seen called evo



yes i contacted canidea and they gave me a run around. the pet store did refund my money when i brought the food in.

I am sorry that you had a problem with Canidae. Did you check the expiry date? It is usually good food.

Innova Evo is great food, but it should only be fed to adult dogs as it is thought that the protein level is too high for puppies. The regular Innova would be fine.

Check www.dogfoodanalysis.com for ratings on dog food. It can be a very useful resource.

thank you. my male is 2 and my female is like 1 1/2. so maybe for the sake of the female ill go with the regular formula for a few months. honestly i didnt check the date on the bag which i should have. ive been buyin stuff from this store for a long time so stopped 2nd guessing them. well we see where that leads

It should be perfectly fine to feed both your dogs EVO. At 18 months, most dogs are finished growing skeletally, and thus, the high protein level shouldn't affect them in the least. Regular Innova is also a very good choice, although not grain-free like the EVO. Whichever you choose should work for both of your dogs.
Definitely check the expiration date on the bag of kibble prior to purchase! Please don't discount Canidae because of one incident like this. I suspect that the place where you purchased the food is responsible in this case, and not the manufacturer! Either the food was held in inventory too long and was expired, or it was kept in conditions which allowed it to spoil, such as wet areas or extreme heat.

turns out a pet store 5 miles from me sells evo. didnt have any large bags in stock but they gave me free smaples of evo red meat and and bought the evo treats. they will get my first bag in on friday. ill start mixin it in till my eukanuba is gone

If you had a problem with canidae you should call the company and let them know. I found a bit of plastic in a can of candiae a while back. I called the company and they were excellent to deal with. They sent me coupons for about 30 cans free.
