Marty Moose has been hiding a lot lately and not been very active. We figured it was from the heat and didn't think too much of it.

I was petting him last night and found huge, huge lumps on all of his lymph nodes in his neck and head. A few in his belly too. These weren't there last week when I brushed him. Last night we also noticed some labored breathing.

:( Headed to the vet this morning, but I don't have a good feeling about what's going on. He's never been a healthy looking/acting cat, despite only being 2 years old. Plus he's lost a fair amount of weight in the last few weeks (hard to notice because he is so long haired, and he's been unwilling to be picked up lately).

Positive vibes coming your way for Marty Moose. Diagnosing cats is tough, even for the best of vets. Hopefully you will find out what ails him and he can be treated and recover quickly.

I'm thankful every day that we have a wonderful regular vet who is not afraid to say "I don't know, you need a second opinion". There are also 2 great specialist vet practices to chose from for said 2nd opinion.

Headed to the vet at 10:30 with him. Of course, I have to find him....not sure where he has been spending his days this past week (inside cat only, so it shouldn't be too hard)

Not a good day at all. Chest xray at our regular vet showed a ton of fluid/mass in his chest, barely any lung volume at all. Significant respiratory distress too.

So, we went right to the specialist for an ultrasound and more tests. This vet aspirated the lumps in his neck and ultrasounded his chest/abdomen. The aspirate was highly suspicious for lymphoma (sent off for staging/exact type) and he is full of masses and swollen lymph nodes throughout his chest and abdomen.

We are doing high dose prednisone to try shrinking the tumor and get him more comfortable. Oncologist said we are looking at around 2-4 months if the prednisone works. Not a great candidiate for chemo due to having a baby in the house and how aggressive this cancer seems (was 100% healthy at his vet visit in March).

Poor Marty Moose is only 2 years old. :( Life is just not fair some days.
