Even though Gauge's stomach is tacked he still makes me very nervous. This morning he got up went pee came back in laid on his pillow and was crying a bit. I got ready for our morning walk took him out we made it around the corner a saw our little puppy friend. Gauge went to greet him but stop and sat down and started shaking. I figured it was another gas attack I tried to get him up to walk but ended up carrying a 60lb puppy home. Got him in the house and he keeps doing circles looking at his stomach. Called vet could not get a hold of her, started getting ready to go the emgerency vet. Took him outside walked around the yard first and he finally went to the bathroom and seems to be feeling better. So I waited it out and took him inside. He missed his morning walk and 5min later was sitting in front of the door so a took him for a walk and than feed him. I walked him again to make sure and he is back to his old self again. This dog makes me soooo nervous sometimes I feel like I should not have him. I need tips on how to cope with a dog that has health issues. How do you people that rescue dogs cope? I could really use the tips!!

Hello silly24boxer. I'm so sorry to hear that Gauge is having stomach problems again even after having his recurring bloat relieved.

Our babies sure can be emotionally draining when we worry about them so much. I have no advice on how not to worry, but know that you aren't alone. Boxers are a unique pet - a cross between a wonderful pet and our children - they are so bright and full of emotions just like people.

Hang in there, others are hanging there, too.

Hope Gauge is feeling better now!! I do so empathize with you and how you worry. It is very emotionally and physically draining when you have a dog with chronic health issues. I live with this too and it is difficult. I don't have any tips, except to try to stay as calm as possible, use your knowledge of Gauge's condition, and pay attention to your instincts. I have no qualms about calling the vet if I sense something is not right, or alarming symptoms appear. The only thing we can really do is lovingly care for our babies, and do the very best to maintain their health and comfort. Hang in there.

Thanks for your kind words

Went to vet again. Same story not a text book case have to figure him out. Told to up protien lower carbs, less canidea and more home cooked. Could be gas pains because it stops after he goes to the bathroom. Vet doesn't feel problem is in the stomach area now maybe in the intestines have to watch him. Told me to keep him walking so he will go to the bathroom.
thanks
