Gauge was doing so well after his surgery. I started slowly giving him more food and yesterday I add maybe 30 kibbles of canidea twice. Once in the afternoon once before bed at 10pm with his zantac and clavimox pill. At 4am he wakes up and pukes. I gave him some more Zantac and off to bed. Seemed really good this morning. Frisky self went did business. Ate breakfast with his pills and pain meds. Well all of a sudden he comes running to me crying arching his back and stretching his legs out again. I am at wits end I don't want anything to happen to puppy. Calmed him down walked him he seems fine now. Could it be the Canidea? I cannot figure it out.

Possibly he would do better on a different form of food than dry kibble? Something without any grains and fully hydrated (so grainless canned, homecooked or raw) might rather easier on his tummy and digestive system.

Oh your poor baby. Sounds like he may have had gas when he came crying to you. Wish you could find out for sure what's going on. Maybe the canidae is not the right food for him. Just a guess.

Poor Gauge!! That arching of the back usually means tummy pain!! :( It might be a good idea to feed a more easily digestible food as Gmacleod posted. I hope he is feeling better very soon - keep us posted.

Going back to canned Id.

Checked vet today and of course she is not in but another vet was working.
Have to give zantac 1hr before eating. All three drugs he is on can cause stomach upset. So I am at a lost where to start. Trying to figure out if it is the time he eats.

Gauge up date!

Finally a good nights sleep for Gauge, but not mom she worries to much about him. No food after 6pm and the new drug to keep the diguestion going at night seems to be working no more puking. We also are trying a new morning sugguestion from the vet. Get Gauge up and walking a good distance before feeding. It worked today. I found out he has alot of gas as in burps and hiccups that seem to be caught in his tummy if you add breakfast to this mix his belly starts to hurt. I always found it weird that Gauge did not have the bad smelly gas. I guess he is a really bloatie little guy. Vet said when she did the surgery the elastic muscles that go around the tummy where not elastic anymore therefore it would have been a matter of time for a really bad case of bloat. She said in time the muscles will go back the way they should be like us having a baby. Until than I think I will be a basket case every morning because I cannot stand to see him in pain. We tired the walk before breakfast method today and it worked. I hope it keeps working.

Glad to hear that Gauge is doing better on his new regimen........but believe me, I know how worried you are!! Until he gets back to "normal", I imagine you'll have those nights of sleeping with one eye on your boy. Continuing to send lots of healing vibes for Gauge - hope those tummy muscles firm up good!! Take care and hang in there.
