I went out the other night and I while I was walking in the cold Rain I noticed something running down the sidewalk! I thought it was a rat at first but then I looked again and got a better view! It was a little puss! She was soaking wet and shivering plus it was almost freezing outside! So naturally I brought her home. We have been looking for a owner for her, But if we can't find anyone (I am pretty sure she is a stray anyways) we are going to keep her.
She also looks like she may be pregnant! and if anyone knows a good way to tell I would appreciate it. I have felt her belly and it feel's like there may be 3 lumps in there. but to get to the cute part.

When I brought her in the house first my kitty sophie started to clean and lick her and then dozer walked over and laid down which made the kitty nervous at first and then they all started licking and cleaning each other! I have never seen anything like this before! There was never a tense moment where I thought they weren't going to get along! He is just the most loving thing!

I also need help picking out a name for the girl she has the weirdest markings I have ever seen She is brindle, Black and orange markings!

How nice of you to provide a home for the stray mother-to-be, especially at this time of year. As for names, how about Keferia (lion cub); Leola (Lion); or Mosi (cat)? Let us know what you ulitmately decide to call her ~ Cathy

The colors you are describing are "tortie or tortishell" they are beautiful cats. I have heard people naming them Callie for calico but they aren't calico which is mostly white with black and orange large spots. A tortie is mostly black with splats of orange and white. How about the name Torrie that would be cute...

I am glad you were able to come to her rescue. :)
She sounds like a Tortie (I own a tortie & a diluted tortie; greyish black with orange). I have a total of 7 rescued street kitties. As far as names I like greek, historical, and poetic names for cats. My kitties are Roameo, Maurice, Jazz, Harley, Reagan, Nixon and Kennedy. When we got Reagan, I liked the named Teagan but my sis didn't, so we decided on Reagan... come to find out she had two kittens, my sis said we will call the diluted tortie Nixon and the regular tortie Kennedy. (cuz Nixon had grey hair in the white house and Kennedy still had dark hair!) LOL I don't know what she musta been thinking but Ken and Nix they are! ;) Good luck with everything.
I had one rescue that came to me pregnant, she was small everywhere else but had this huge, hard rounded belly. Best wishes!

Superstitious?

In Ireland and Scotland they believe that tortoise shell cats bring good fortune to their owners.

In the US it is believed that tortoise shell cats are a surety against fire.

Congrats on your new addition!

How wonderful that you rescued the little kitty! From what you are describing...sounds like she might be an Egyptian Tortoise-shell....they are very unique looking cats....espcially their faces. I've had 2 of them before..Misty and Boo-Cat! Glad to hear that your new kitty and Dozer got along well!

My son decided!

My 2 year old son kept saying kitty and then I asked him what her name should be and he said lilo! I liked lola so I compromised and her name is lila!

I really don't know if she is preg but she look's like it! Her belly is big and firm and I thought I felt something moving in there when I rubbed her tummy today! I am going to put her in my avatar box for a while so everyone can see her! She is just one of the most beautiful cat's I have ever seen! She doesn't have ANY white on her though just black and orange!

And now I need help with her "other name" Like my kitty Sophie Is Sophie "kins" and Dozer is Dozer "kabob" I can't think of anything that sounds better than Lila "belle"!

If her belly is very firm to the touch and large, yep, she's probably pregnant. You could take her to the vet and they could tell you for sure and give you tips on how to care for her and the new kittens when they arrive. Feed her kitten food. I took in a stray that was pregnant and she had them under the bed. I moved her and the kittens into my bedroom closet because they like to be somewhere dark, cozy and quiet. Even though she was very young when she had them, she knew exactly what to do and was a great mom. I've had her for 7 years now and she is by far the best cat I've ever had!

Yep she is

I am almost positive that she is preggo, We are going to take her to the vet though and see if she can at least get vaccinated! I am not sure if they do that when they are pregnant. She is meowing a LOT right now and pacing a bit I have never had a pregnant animal before but I know that those are some of the signs that she is going into labor!

I set up a kennel in our bedroom and put a couple towels in it. That way she isn't bothered.

I would like some tips about how to help her when they do come. Our vet doesn't speak english very well and she may have them before we have the chance to take her in!

I am really excited!

I was really worried too about my cat having kittens because she was so young. I read lots of literature and the vet gave me some pointers. I went to bed one night and when I got up the next morning, Abbey was under the bed curled up with 6 squeaking little bundles of fur. She had them all cleaned up and everything. There was hardly a spot of blood on the carpet and no, uh, remnants, from the birthing process. I was actually disappointed that I missed the births but I guess I just would've stressed her out!
