Estimating weight?

Is there a way to roughly estimate what a puppy's weight is going to be when he's full-grown?? We were thinking that Hayden is going to be a big boy (an even 28 pounds at 17 weeks) but in reading some of the other posts about age & weight, I'm not so sure..

When Gibson was that age I asked the same question. The truth is, however, that you really have no idea how big/small your boxer will be until they are much older. Puppies are like kids, they all grow at very different rates. Sometimes the shortest 14 year old boy in his class will turn out to be the tallest kid in his high school graduating class. It's impossible to tell.

I think a rough rule of thumb is a puppy doubles their weight between 3 mnths and 6 mnths and a third from 6 mnths to adult. A rough rule of thumb.

If that were true, Gibson should be 57 lbs as an adult....he's 10 and a half months and is 62.5 lbs...he's probably got at least another 10 lbs to go, so I don't think your general rule of thumb is very accurate.
