We had an Earthquake last night at 8pm from what I hear around the SF Bay Area very little damage reported and no injuries!

But Fin was acting wierd all day long. He was so beside himself a few times I considered taking him to the vet. He was wandering around my office all day and would stop randomly and stand staring into space. When my brother got back to the office he wouldnt stop standing/laying/sitting on his feet/chair while he was sitting at his desk (which he rarely if ever does)

I know dogs are known to act wierd before an earthquake but the thing I found strange was that he had horrible Diarehia(sp?) in the middle of the day. Fin has a strong stomach and I am always on the watch to what he puts in his mouth and he didnt get into anything yesterday.

Has anyone gone through this experience before with thier dog and earthquakes? Did it result in an upset stomach too?

Oh my God!!!

I can't believe I didn't put the pieces together! Laika had been acting REALLY weird for the past 2-3 days and has had diarrhea, also for no apparent reason. (No change in food, no eating anything in the yard, etc).

We felt the earthquake last night... we live just north of Berkeley. Funnily enough, she didn't really freak out as it was happening, but just kind of came into the living room where I was and stood there. Then went back to bed. I knew then there was nothing to worry about. :)

I didn't notice anything here, Billy went up to his bed around 7.30pm and I woke him at 10.30 (ish) to take him out for his evening walk. No stomach issues here either.

He doesn't even wake up when we hear the Sonic Boom. It rattles the windows but Billy doesn't stir. I really must tire him out on our morning runs!!!

Poor Fin. Dogs are so attuned and have such acute hearing. Many times diarrhea is a result of stress so not surprising that your pup had the "runnies". I must say, though, I thought when I saw your post you had two boxers-one named Earthquake and one named Finley  I was trying to figure out what on the world "Earthquake's " call name would be...

Ya know... I really think all animals are really tuned in to sensing earthquakes!!!! When I went to college in upstate NY (it was 2001), we had a bad earthquake at about 6 am. The whole day before, my cat acted so strange! I, too, almost took him to the vet because when I would pick him up he would just hang limp. And when I put him on my bed.. he'd crouch right down and put his ears flat! Once the earth-quake was over... he was fine! It's amazing how they have that sense isn't it???

We had a couple of big ones here last year and Grunt was very, very agitated about a half hour before the first one hit. We were getting ready to go out to breakfast, and I was filling his Kong and noticed he was pacing, panting and whimpering a little. Minutes later, I heard rumbling, and the floor started shaking and rolling like a wave, stuff on the walls was banging around, and I thought Oh Lordy, we're going to die !!! Grunt was between my legs and trembling badly. I was just catching my breath and trying to calm him (and me!!) down, and I heard the rumbling again and another one hit. He was just SO scared! Needless to say, we never went out and even if we could have, I could never have left him in that state. It took about 2 weeks before he really calmed down. Everytime a big truck went down our street, he would run to me and stand between my legs, trembling. Poor babies!! Scarey!!! But he never had diarrhea.....thank goodness!

My babies were all alone during the quake and we live in Alum Rock. Both the wife and I were in seperate martial arts classes. I came home and our male was really upset. Just the day before he went out to pee and thunder cracked over his head, than an earth quake. Poor boy.
