Super Boxer
does anyone know how a strictly indoor cat might get an ear infection or ear mites? he NEVER goes outside. however, we do have three boxers running around the house that we let in and out all the time.
our cat is 15 1/2 years old. and i noticed around 9pm Sunday night that he had a crusty buildup in his ear. I cleaned it out with ear wash solution that we had on hand for the dogs (it's safe for cats, too.) Lots of gunk came out of the ear. then i cleaned it out again yesterday morning and got even more gunk out. this time it was brown & green and gooey. sorry to be so gross. I called the vet on the spot and made an appoitment. i'm taking him in today at 4:30. i cleaned the ear out again last night and again this morning.....both times more gunk and gooey discharge.
the affected ear is also making a "squishy" noise when you move it around. I'm hoping he doesn't have a really bad infection but all symptoms are pointing to that direction.
i feel so bad that i didn't notice this!!! he's not scratching at the ear or shaking his head or anything. he's always on our lap and sleeps in bed with us. i feel like a neglectful mother because i didn't notice this sooner!!!
any advice?
