I have a question? I want to know if you have to clip there ears or not? We were really not wanting to but wondered if there was any pros/cons to doing this!
Thank you,

Have to? No, certainly there is no reason on this earth why anyone has to, nor any benefit to the dog in doing so (and incidentally, it's illegal to do so in many countries around the world).

Cropping ears is cosmetic surgery, nothing more nor less. Completely up to you whether to do it or not, since it's legal where you live. But there is nothing beyond personal preference in favour of doing it.

My dad breeds them and will NOT crop because it is painful and just not necessary. It is not inhumane or anything...but nonetheless extra pain for a little one.

In my personal opinion...floppy ears are just the cutest thing ever!

It's all personal preference. I personally think that it looks a lot better. I had my dogs ears cropped and it's not the painful process that people try and make it out to be. It was a little snesative for a little bit after the initial surgery at thats it. If you get it done by a very reputable vet it's deffinitely not what people make it out to be!

We have a Chiuauha (how ever you spell it) and we did not clip her ears either because we liked the puppy look! I think we will not clip the ears! Thanks so much for the info!

It is completely up to you. I prefer the cropped look and will crop mine for as long as possible.

As for the misconception that it is terribly painful. It is not. My pups are up and playing with each other within a few hours of the surgery. The worst part of the whole process is taking out the sutures and not because it is painful, but the pups don't want to hold still.

However, most vets do not know how to do a nice crop and sure don't know about aftercare. Almost every horror story I hear is because of either the vet not knowing what they are doing or the owner not following instructions.

In your case, I would not crop. Unless you really want the look and are prepared to put some time in, training the ears to stand, it would not be a good idea.

I love the joules and the floppy ears go so well with those. I would not crop the ears, my little guy Guinness would have his ears in a different position everyday for about the first 2 weeks we had him, it added to his charm and personality saying look at me, this is how I feel today, if he was feeling goofy on would be up and the other inside out. It was sooooooooooo funny and cute, my wife and I still talk about his comedic behavoir!
