I just had my Puppys dew claw removed it was suppost to be done when I got her but it grew back and was growing back into her paw. The way it was growing i had to get it removed. Its almost been 2 weeks and i cant get her into the vet till next tuesday(there booked up) shes been nawing on her foot with her cone on and the cone is starting to make her paw bleed. its bandaged up so she cant get at her stiches but now shes getting another sore Is there anything i could put on it to help that heel faster like polysporin on the part where the cone scrached her? iput a non stick bandaid on it then put a sock over it to stop the cone from digging into her skin. im just woundering if it safe? also shes only 7 months and shes been lyeing around all day im getting kinda worried about her foot.. Btw shes only been picking at it last night yesterday she was fine and her normal hyper self.

i would get her to the vet to make sure that the wound is ok. especially since she's been chewing at it. if the vet who did the surgery can't see her for 2 weeks i would probably find another vet.
and, if there is another issue with the collar, etc....you might need to talk to the vet about what you can do to get her to leave things alone so they can heal.

Uh yea, call the vet and tell them if they can't squeez her in, you are switching. It is uncalled for them to not be able to see her for 2 weeks in this situation.

Keep the wound clean and don't let her chew on it. If the cone is causing more problems, I would only leave it on her when you can't watch her. Also, put a piece of foam or fabric or some type of padding around the edge of the cone. I would just line it with a tea towel or a strip of fabric and duct tape it on.

Definately get her into a vet though, that is absurd they can't see her sooner.

Well I went to the vet and guess what they screwed up. She went on to tell me that i should of came every 3 days to get her bandage changed. Well I guess not only did her cone made a gash but the bandage made her paw beed so now she has a big gash about an inch long I feel so bad for not calling in sooner. They told me that if anything happens like an infection they will pay for everything including the meds. At least her claw is heeled.

Well, at least they admitted it and are willing to pay if anything happens. That's more than a lot of other vets will do. I know one I went to when Roxy was a puppy and had mange and the vet thought it was allergies. I went back about 3 times and he kept selling me this allergy stuff. Finally, I went to another vet and they said it was one of the worst cases of mange they had seen in a puppy! I called the first vet to tell him, but did he admit he screwed up....NO!!! His partner called and apologized, he didn't! Of course I switched vets! But, for yours to admit they made a mistake is a grand gesture in my view! :)
