Hello there,
Just a few questions about our daily trip to the dog park (some lasting 4 hrs at a time!)
We're there everyday, and we see basically the same dogs....
Why does he feel the need to "hump" everyone of them everyday???
I've heard that its dominance, and I've also heard that he's trying to get the other dogs to play...
He's been neutered since March, and he's also a year old..
Thank goodness the other dog owners are alright with his behavior, I on the other hand get quite embarassed.
He is especially "fond" of a Rotweiller twice his size, and could really get hurt. He'll stop only for a few minutes and I think to myself "GREAT, you got it out of your system", then, a few minutes later he's back doing it again.....
He does eventually stop, and LOVES to run and get chased by other dogs.
I'm just afraid that one of these days, he will do this to the wrong one, (and I may run into a not so understanding owner).....
Please help!

Even though it doesn't seem to bother the other owners, humping is not a socially acceptable behavior to the dogs and you need to get a handle on it before he does meet another dog who has an issue with it.
I guess if it were me, I would keep him on leash until the problem is resolved. If he is halfway across the park, you have no way of getting to him to correct his behavior. Allow him to greet the other dogs on leash, but at the first sign of humping, make him immediately stop and remove him from the area. Give him a couple of minutes to relax, and then go back over to the other dogs. If he does it again, another timeout is in order. If he continues, unfortunately the answer needs to be leaving the park comlpetely. Eventually he will come to realize that humping is not an acceptable behavior, and if he engages in this no-no, he has to go home and his fun ends.

Agree with BetseyB that you need to discourage it-it is "rude" in the dog world. Many dog parks though have "no leash" rules, and for good reason as leash aggression can occur. I guess I would just stay closer to him and get him off everytime. You can mark it with a word . I ues "off" but then you can not use that word for anything else. Say it once, firmly, and lift him gently off. Once he gets the word and start to understand that this is not acceptable, the word should be all you need. Do you walk him before you go to the park? Dogs should be excercised before the park visit. If he has expended some energy he may not be so "wired" and jumping everyone :)

Thank you both for your advice....
I normally dont walk him first, as he's been in the crate until I get home from work, then off to the dog park.... (with tons of boxer energy, as I'm sure you're aware of!!)
I walk him after we've had time in the park.

This behaviour is all new, and I wasnt too sure as to how to handle it.
When he does play, he has a blast, and so do all of the other dogs.
I want to get this under control asap, and wasnt too sure if this would just "go away", or if I need to correct it (now I know)
I am planning on taking him later on today, so I will let you know how it goes!
Thanks !
