Miss Stella has the funny habit of going on "patrol" about 6 or 7 PM most nights. She goes from room to room, looking for something to bark at, or barking at noises outside. The other two just ignore her (unless it's a doorbell!!!) She's so petite, it really is funny.

Well not exactly Melvin sticks to us like a circle fly and patrol would mean he would have to leave our side  Zoe thinks if we want patrolling done we had better do it ourself  Maybe that is because my husband is a police officer HMMMMMMM!

Hank patrols EVERY time he comes in from outside. I think he is checking to see if he has missed anything, especially food!

When the DH isn't home at night, she will sit in front of me like a sentry and do the little "boof" half-bark thing whenever she hears a noise. And heaven forbid anyone walk down the hallway in front of our door!! You'd swear we were being attacked by the way she's barking and growling. But if DH is home, she's sleeping soundly next to me on the couch. Crazy girl!

Waldo will check out the backyard before going to bed for the night, after his last whistlestop:)
This involves walking to the end of the path near the back door,a quick scan of the yard,"all safe now,Mum and Dad,we'll all sleep well now"

Our big boy, Brutus loves to go outside and stand at the top of the deck stairs to survey the area. When Gypsy was a puppy and needed to go outside in the middle of the night Brutus would always go with us even if he didn't need to go potty. He would just watch over her from the op of the deck stairs while she took care of business. Also, he waits on the main level for everyone to get upstairs to the bedroom before he comes up. He wants to make sure everything is okay and everyone is safely tucked away in bed before he can settle down for the evening.

chloes patrol of outside, at 10 i let her out before bed and she first looks up the driveway taking in big sniffs of air, next its off the deck to check the woods in front of the house same thing, next the side to check those woods again big sniffs, then she goes in the back does her thing finishes and looks around again sniffing then comes up the front porch one last look up driveway and she is in for the night. it always makes me feel safe because on more then one occasion she has chased something into the woods where her hair is straight up and she is running with meaning. she doesnt go far enough to get it away from the house, (racoons, skunks, already been sprayed!! deer and coyote and red fox are always around here)

chloes patrols are the best.
