Does your boxer sit funny?

J.C. has a funny way of sitting sometimes. If he has to sit for a long time, he'll tuck his nubber underneath when he sits. As far as I can tell he does this because his nubber is too long and digs into the floor when he sits normal. It definitely got some comments at his obedience classes. The instructor thought he was just being lazy untill I explained WHY he was doing it. There is a pic of him sitting like that in my gallery. So, is J.C. the only one with this problem or is it common?

My Zeus sits like that all the time. I never thought about his nub causing him to sit like that. I thought he sat like that because his legs where so long. I wonder how many other boxers sit like that.

Sitting like that is very common in boxers. My stepmother always mentions how surprised she is that Samson doesn't sit that way. When she lived with her aunt and uncle that bred boxers, they all sat that way...

Lady sits that way

Her left rear leg is sort of splayed out because it was broken in two places while she was on the streets. It healed improperly, so is sort of gimpy. She sits like that when she has somethin, like a wall or car seat, to lean against. It's so cute!

Lipstick sit

Something about sitting that way makes Boru happy. His pink lipstick shows up, and he gets a dopey look on his face. Gotta love it!

My Jasmine does that as well and her nub is short. She especially does it when she is tired and looking for someone to cuddle up to. She'll come, turn her back to you and sit. Then she'll tilt her head a l l t h e w a y b a c k (you'd think it's going to break) and look at you upside down. Too funny!

Oh, she also does it while resting the punkin' head on the window sill.

Mugsy doesn't sit that way, but he does prefer to sit on something. He'll usually sit on my lap and have his front paws on the floor. Lately he sits his rear end on the bottom step and has his front paws on the floor. He looks like he's sitting in a chair - it's so cute.

Well J.C. you aren't alone, my Cletus sits the same way,I just thought it was a male dog thing. My Susie girl doesn't sit like that,but I see some on here,that have females that sit that way. J.C. don't let that instructor give you a complex, tell him your not the only Boxer that sits like that! LOL, Hanley

The obedience instructor actually thought it was funny once he knew why he was doing it. When he first sits, he sits normal, but, if he has to sit for a long time, then he tucks his tail. He won't stay in that positon a long time either. If it gets to be too long then he wants to lie down. I guess he just can't sit comfortably for long periods. His nubber doesn't have any hair on the end, it's just skin and bone so I imagine it's probably pretty sensitive.
