When we bought Bodie we did eveything right took him to the vet after 3 days and got a clean bill of health.. that night he was up all night hacking. The vet had missed that he had kennel cough then proceded to blame it on us becuase we had wiped his eyes off before we got there.. so there was no way of knowing he was ill. yah right.. anyways he was treated with antibiotics and breathing treatments. The vet said that there will be no lasting effects from the kennel cough and he pulled through and made a 100% recovery or so we hope.. My question is does anyone know is kennel cough leads to snoring? Bodie snores sooo loud like a train and he likes to sleep with his head elevated. Any Suggestions?

Well, I guess if he has any lingering swelling of the nasal passages (which isn't that unusal with a cold - be it human or canine) then that might increase his tendancy to snore. But LOTS of boxer puppies snore - and it can be extremely loud too. They do grow out of it to some extent, but some will continue snoring loudly as adults. It's just one of the things that kind of goes with a flat faced dog.

Don't think it has much to do with kennel cough. Snoring is definitely a boxer thing!

Neither of mine have had kennel cough, but both have always snored. Caney's was AWFUL when she was little -- I had to wear earplugs in both ears EVERY NIGHT for months, and sometimes I could STILL hear her snoring! She's 10 months now, and it has definitely improved as she's gotten bigger. appicon Still, on any given night, one of the two of them WILL be snoring. These days just one earplug (in the ear opposite the pillow) will suffice, and occasionally I can get away without them!

I HAVE noticed that she snores less when the room is cooler because she curls up tight to sleep. When stretched out she will ALWAYS snore!

I agree with everyone, it is definately a boxer thing. Orion has been a very loud snorer (sp?) for a while now. I tend to go in and move his head into a better position when he gets too loud. He sleeps with my son and I don't know how he can sleep through it.
