Do they ever settle?

Nylah and Davinci are litter mates and recently turned 1 yrs old. Although they do not live together they see one another at a minimum of 3 times a week. When they are together they run, chase, wrestle, and play with one another non stop. It gets to the point where we have to put them outside because we can't watch a movie or have a conversation. If they spend the night with one another then they play ALL night. I (Nylah's Dad) and Rome (Davinci's Dad) were thinking about getting another set of Boxers--their mother's next litter, but we are concerned they will never settle down. Does anyone with 2 or more Boxers have this problem?

LOL! I have two that are non-stop, they live together though so their play sessions are broken up into 15 minutes naps here and there. I think if they were together all the time you might not notice it so much. They do settle down eventually - Rowdy is almost two and I've notice a slight maturity...Good luck!

Do they settle.

The quick answer is no.

But that is what is so great about them. My two (1 year aprart) play 60% of the day.

They keep each other amused happy and fit.

The quiet time is when we go out walking and they are busy rushing round, chasing balls, swimming in the river (new venture).

We record every televison programme we watch, then we can wind back the parts we have been unable to hear because of all the noise.

So many dogs do not know how or want to play. Be thankful that yours do.

I have 3 boxers and sometimes it's manic, thankfully out in the garden only though.
Right now Lola's at my feet while I'm typing and Casper & Zeb are in the lounge with my daughter, Casper's chewing his kong and Zeb's sleeping so no it's not manic all the time
If they're exercised well they settle down nicely. I've just taken Zeb out for an hour running off lead and then took Casper out for about 45 mins off lead running after (Zeb's a nightmare if he goes out for walks with either of my other 2 ) Lola will go out after dinner.
A well exercised dog is usually a good dog ;)

LOL. This is not a problem. This is being a boxer owner! Playful boxers are normal, happy boxers. Even my 9 year old plays like a pup...but he sleeps for a long time afterward.

We adopted Scrappy at about 2 years of age. He is now about 3 and a half. He is still a nut! But has settled down some. He sometimes drives my 10 year old Shephard mix nuts, but fortunately, she is very patient!

Morning and afternoon are play time for my guys plus any outdoor trips if a toy goes outside watchout Foreman and Cooper will play for hours but after 7 pm its quite time for them and Ruby has a few bursts of energy early in the day.

For me, three seems to be the "magic" age when they become a little less CRAZY  My two do seem to settle down at night pretty good but my boy is six and my girl knows she has to stop when he settles. She is a year and a half and I make sure she gets A LOT of exercise. Two pups together are going to go all night though. I think when they live together, though, they develop a routine-maybe because they know the other will always be there to play with :)

Thanks for all the feedback. Since the fire Nylah and I have been staying with her litter mater, Davinci and they do have their moments when all they want to do is play and chase one another but then as many of you mentioned before they take a break out and settle for a moment. It's almost comical to see one of them take a toy and tease the other and then the chasing begins. We love to sit back and watch them especially when one of them ets tired and the other wants to play...usually it's Davinci wanting to play and he'll start barking and growling...playfully at Nylah who, bless her heart is exhausted. I have been running her and changing her diet because she is going to be a big female fawn and I want to curb her from being overweight...she should be about 65lbs now and she's only 1 yrs old...OMG!!!
