I know there have been dozens of posts about this before, but I had to share. This evening we went into a pet store just to look at the puppies - I should have known better, though, because it always depresses me! I saw the cutest white baby boy there and he had the HUGEST paws I have ever seen on a boxer...they almost looked unnaturally big! I felt SO sad seeing him there in the cage (barely enough room to move). You know that they never walk the puppies or let them out of the cages to play...it just broke my heart! I wish that pet stores could be outlawed. They are all profit-driven and could care less whether the puppies go to a good home or not. Okay, enough venting I guess. I just had to share because I was so depressed after seeing that cute baby boy there! I think it gets even more personal when you actually own one of the breeds that you see behind the glass. I came home and gave my baby girl a big kiss!

Yes I know thats hard to do. I have to go to the pet store by my house all the time for fish and accesories. I have been soo tempted to take a puppy home from there....BUT..... I know deep down that I wouldnt be solving anything, just helping promote the puppy mills! So I just go in get what I went for and leave really fast! lol

A few months back, I went into a petstore and there was a fawn boxer puppy that looked just like Tyson. He was sooo cute and I felt so bad. I really wanted to cry. There's nothing we can do for those poor poor puppies. I could just wring those people's necks that bring those innocent souls into this world for such a hard life. So I refuse to go into a petstore ever again.

Yeah...I myself am on strike from Pet Stores, and have been for quite a few years! I use to go in all the time to "just look" at the puppies...but as I got older and grew into the dog freak that I am...the harder it got. When you reach a certain age...you begin to realize what is really happening. So that, added with the wisdom from so many of you here at Boxerworld...I've learned so much! It just rips my heart to pieces everytime is see a Pet Store sign reading "Puppies For Sale!" I just want to run over and snatch the sign and throw it in my trunk!

It's heartbreaking.

When I was working in CT last year there was a pet store that sold pups, and sometimes there were boxers there. It killed me to see them there, but of course I couldn't buy one and support the puppy mills. So instead I comforted myself by going in and playing with the boxer pup(s) for an hour or so whenever they had one there. I felt awful leaving the pups there, but I figured at least they got some playtime outside of the cage and some loving for a little while.

I guess that I am lucky. All the pet stores around me have only SPCA dogs and cats. The stores don't sell them they just let the dogs be viewed and the SPCA adopts them out. No puppy mills.
