Ok, we picked up Max on Saturday. What awesome looking dog. The kids love him already.

First night I put him in the crate around 11pm and he whined, was crying, etc. for about 20 mins then not one word from him until 6:30am. I was like way to go boy! Then came last night. In the crate around 11pm and he cried all night long. He would stop for about hour a few times. I did get up at 1:30am and took him outside to go potty. I have a few questions. Is this normal for him to cry all night long? How long will he do this? Anything I can do to make his nights better with less crying involved?

I think this is pretty normal, both mine did the same thing. This is new for Max, he's away from his MOM and littermates and in a crate. It could take a few weeks or longer for him to adjust.

Where is Max's crate during the night? If it's not in your bedroom, I would suggest putting it there. That will help alot!!! Just keep doing what your doing, taking him potty maybe 2-3 times during the night. Prasie him when he goes potty and maybe a special treat when he goes back in his crate???

What I did was put the crate near my bed ( I put it on something so it was level with the bed.) I thought if he could see me he would be alright. Anytime mine would whimper, I just stuck my finger in his crate and he went back to sleep.

I also bought a loud ticking clock...wrapped it in a towel and stuck it next to his crate. Put a soft toy and just make it cozy for him!!

Good Luck ;)
