Counter Surfing

Does anyone have any suggestions to stop counter surfing other than following your boxer every single second he leaves to go to another room? The majority of the time there is not even anything on the counter, but he seems to do it for entertainment.

Some of the ideas given to me in puppy kindergarten included putting some cardboard slightly over the edge with a tin can full of marbles so that we they jumped up the can would fall and scare them or put packing tape around the parameter sticky side up. Just some thoughts, hope you find a solution...

Try the water bottle!

Our 4 month old puppy starting doing that about a month ago.....as soon as he could reach! I tried the old squirt bottle and it stopped after about a week. Once in awhile he'll forget, but when I grab that bottle he cowers away. Remember it has to startle him or he'll think you're playing. Now I'm using it to keep him away from the Christmas tree !

I think if they have ever found some goodies on the counter, they will continue to look up there. My two once devoured a plate of blueberry muffins...ever since that, they are always looking up there.


I'd be scared of the marble idea...my pup would try to eat them and probably swallow a few!

I should have mentioned that you should tape a lid made of cardboard, etc. as it is the noise. Sorry

Surfing

Mine surfs also. It is working out quite well for the cat and chihuahua. I don't have any solutions, but go to utube and check out the surfing boxer videos. They must all be the same.
