How old is he? My Oscar used to do it all the time as a puppy. Now I have another puppy Jasmine and she does it every now and then too. Oscar has grown out of it. So it might be something having to do with teething. I am not positive though.

Allergies will sometimes cause chewing of paws. Also yeast infections between the pads.

Depends exactly what you mean by 'chewing' paws. Enough to irritate or damage the skin? That's more commonly the result of allergies, often food related, but sometimes environmental.

Check b/t Bruce's toes and see if the skin looks really red or inflamed. Allergies can cause itching, and even if it starts as mild, the dog's constant chewing and licking can create a secondary infection. We went through this several times before eliminating allergens from Farley's diet and eventually switching to BARF. Now he's foot-chew free!

Zeke did this and it was allergies. He did it to the point where he would make his feet bleed and take all the fur off. I have changed his diet and give him Missing LInk (bought at Petsmart) and we seem to be doing well. We had 1 cortizone shot to initially get them under control. I don't want to do the shot again because it shortens their life. The diet and supplements are making him do well.

The allergies did not show in Zeke until he was a little over a year old.
