I'm sorry, what is your point?

The page you cited says Chance is an American Bulldog!
And, yes, there are LOTS of people out there who don't know anything about dog breeds and get them confused!

And, YES, there was a boxer in that movie. There's a picture of him on that webpage: http://www.movieweb.com/movie/homeward/bw2.jpg

My thoughts exactly, Linda! I couldn't figure out what the point is to this post, either. I was trying to determine how that webiste is "proof" that many people think ABs are boxers. The page doesn't even mention boxers.

How is a picture of an American Bulldog proof that people think they are white boxers? Anyone who is smart enought to read the breed standard or knows anything about boxers can tell that Chance isn't a boxer, he has no wrinkles, he lacks the cropped tail which even most puppy mills take care of on boxers, his snout, build and expression are all wrong for a boxer.

By the same token, I have a white boxer and people often mistake him for a pit bull or something else (one guy tried to tell me he was a dalmation/sharpei mix!). These are just people who don't know much about dogs but sadly don't realize this.

I hope you aren't one of those annoying folks who always goes around telling white boxer owners that our dogs are not boxers. If so, I can tell you right now, it is really obnoxious, please stop. My dad was a boxer breeder, I know what kind of dog I have. The people on this site are well educated boxer lovers, we know what our dogs are, it sounds like you do not.

I think there is a little confusion involved here. Chance is an Am. Bulldog and the link to the movie web calls him an Am. Bulldog. However, there was at least one boxer in the movie also. It is a beautiful cropped flashy brindle who is labeled as a "stray" by Disney. He is shown in the movie web link in the first posting. Go down to the 7th picture (a group of three)and click on the bottom right hand one to see the boxer. There is also another fawn uncropped dog that I am not sure about. I have heard other boxer people complain about Disney calling this gorgeous boxer a stray and using him as a junk yard dog.
I have 2 Boxers and my son has an American Bulldog (she did cost a pretty penny from a breeder) and she does have many of the characteristics of the mastiff as does the boxer. But her chest is wider, her legs are shorter and her nose is not pushed in. Who knows what unscrupulous people will label their dogs to sell them.

I'm pretty sure the other dog is a mastiff. And, in the movie, the boxer and mastiff are stray "junkyard dogs" and play the bullies. I think mainly because of their intimidating look.

It is pretty funny really because the boxer is gorgeous--looks more like he just came from the show ring. :)

I have 2 white boxers and people are always
saying that they look like Chance from Homeward Bound. I have also had people ask if they are pitbulls, am. bulldogs, jack russels and dalmations. When I say they are white boxers, they say they have never heard of them.

I've heard a few people say Chance is a boxer but rest assured he's definitely an American Bulldog because I have met Chance personally!!! His trainer/co-owner (I think) was at my vet's office one day and I saw Chance and just remarked how much he looked like that dog from Homeward Bound and she laughed and said...guess what this is Chance (although his real name is something else I can't remember now that was maybe 3-4 years ago). Small world, I couldn't believe it.
