Hahahaha, no you're so right! It IS our fault. I've considered the tethering thing... We have two cats as well, so it's not a bad idea to ensure she stops going after them every 2 seconds. She's actually pretty good about coming to me when I call her away from the cats - she hesitates for a moment but then comes over and I put her in a "sit" and treat. But you're absolutely right, we should tether her or crate her until I know she can hold it. I'm thinking about doing the bells - does this actually work in an apartment you think? I've seen it work when people put them on the back doors to their homes and the dog knows that's the door that leads to outside...I'll try it! It's been 2 weeks since I originally posted and we've been getting her to walk by coaxing her with little pieces of cheese. Sometimes if we just run away from her she starts following/running to catch up and we lead her outside!
