Carpet Cleaning Solution

I finally got my Bissell ProHeat 2x for Christmas and I am already to break it out and start cleaning. I was wondering what others use for carpet cleaning solution in places where their pups peed or pooed. Are some solutions better then other for these stains and smells? Thanks in advance.

The best thing I have ever used in both my carpet cleaning machine and just on my hands and knees is a soloution of OxyClean powder and hot water. Stay away from anything with soap in it because if you don't get every bit of soap residue out of the carpet, dirt will stick to it like crazy.

I appreciate the advise. This is my first house and first time cleaning the carpets myself (I thought that would be more economical then paying someone to do it twice a year) so will take all the advise I can get.

I've always used Spot Shot. It's in a blue can with an orange top. I don't have to use it much since I have hardwood with only 2 rugs now but I used to go through several cans a month when I lived in carpeted apartments with my boys. I don't think I ever came across a stain it couldn't remove.

I use Hoover or Bissell carpet cleaner for pet stains. Then I go over the carpet a second time using white vinegar!

I use "See Spot Go" for accidents. It's the best product I've found for tough stains and smells.

You are going to love the Bissell! I got one less than a year ago and I've had great results with it! So far I've just used the Bissell cleaning solutions and had good luck with them.

So I finally used the Bissell. Let me say, this thing is awesome!!! About this time last year I have someone come in and do the carpets and I have to say I think the Bissell did a better job. I can't wait to do the rest of the house, as sad as that sounds.

my husband first job as a teenage was to clean rugs they used old fashioned laundry det in the machine for really tough spots, which i use with my carpet cleaning machine and my rug looks great. he also told me to get a glimmer in the rug and nice clean smell they added fabric softner to the det, i tried it and my rug is soft and shiny. works great for me.
