Car sickness

My baby is 13-weeks-old now and is starting to get car sick. The last three times we have taken her in the car she got sick and barfed. I try to take her at least 2 hours after she has eaten.

Any suggestions on this would be appreciated, as I try to take her out as much as possible so she gets use to the car and doesn't associate the riding with going to the vets.

Thanks,

How long have the rides been where she's thrown up?

I'd suggest frequent short car rides (just a few minutes) and you can gradually start to lengthen her rides as she gets older. Most pups just outgrow carsickness with age and experience. But to help her out in the meantime, I'd suggest all the sorts of things that help people - like good ventilation, being able to see, etc

Taking her for short rides is a good idea. Tara used to get carsick, she did grow out of it.

Max used to get car sick also. He did grow out of it but I think it helped him to ride as frequent as possible and on a completely empty stomach. The only time he has problems now is if we are on a really bumpy country road and then I slow down. If he were a skin kid, I suppose rollercoaster rides would be out. He was my first ever Boxer to literally turn a shade of green.

Thanks for the advice....We will try the shorter rides for now. It was funny, it seemed that she got sick when she was riding in our car (which is small), but did not get sick in the van which is higher than the car. Maybe she felt the bumps more in the car then the van. Anyway, we will try shorter distances and gradually increase the time with her age. Thanks so much for the input.

You all are so helpful.
