Hi all,

Got some ? on my mind before I actually commit. Like to hear a few comments.

On a scale of 1-5 how would you rate the following, 5 being the most/best scenario:

- How good is a boxer with kids(safety wise)?
- Teachability/aptitude for training?
- Amount of exercise needed?

- Rate the amount/type of living space it really needs to be happy ?
( Is large appartment ok or it needs ayard assuming I will walk it at least 1hr/day) ?

Any significant differences between male/female in tempremant ?

Since I got conflicting info from ressources I read, figured I'd ask the boxer community . . .

Thanks for feedback!

Welcome to the board! You have definitely come to the right place for opinions and advice about boxers. :D

I'll address a couple of your questions with my experience.

Good with kids? Yes, with exceptions-
We have 2 daughters (8 and 4) and have had 3 boxers--our first boxer when our daughter was only 9 mos. old. None of our boxers has ever snapped, nipped, or growled at any kid. :)
However, our youngest boxer, Bailey is very "rough" when playing. She runs fast and jumps up on my 4-year old. It seems my daughter is always yelling, "no Bailey!" I think that is a puppy thing, and she'll get over it.
Our oldest boxer is extraordinarily gentle with the kids.
How old are your children?

Trainability - Boxers are not labs or retrievers. :) They typically will not perform the same command over and over just because you ask them to. They are smart and do learn quickly, but do get bored. Make training a game, and they'll do anything for you. Boxers love fun and games and playing. They are very puppy-like for most of their life.

Good luck on your decision. You are to commended for doing your homework first. Boxers are defintely not for everyone. One magazine I have says, "boxers are in-your-face dogs." If that doesn't appeal to you, perhaps you should look at another breed.
