Bump on hind leg

I have noticed that Sarge has a bump on his right hind leg. It is about the size of a quarter and sticks up about an inch. I have no idea what it is!! I don't know if I should be concerned or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Could be nothing-a bug bite, small bruise, etc. I think I would have the vet check it out if for no other reason than to measure it so you can keep track of it if it does not go away. Good luck

Is it pinkish in color or hidden by fur??? Has it gotten bigger? Can you post a picture? (It would be easier to see what it looks like). But regardless.... it would be better to have a vet check it out! ;) Better to be safe!!!!

We are going to the vet at 3:45 today. I hope it is nothing major!!!

Glad you went to the vet! That would be one that would be better safe for them to check out! Chief had one similar on his front leg. It turned out to be just a histiocytoma. What was the verdict when you went to the vet? We're thinking of Sarge in hopes things turn out well! ;) Please keep us posted!

Well, Sarge went to the vet this afternoon. The vet believes that is an abcess from some sort of wound that he may have gotten playing with his other puppy buddies. She was able to get some pus and blood from it. Need to put antibiotic ointment on it 2-3 times per day ( FUN....he just wants to lick it off!!!) and he is on a systemic antibiotic. She said that if it hasn't gone away in a couple of weeks, she wants to see him back to to get some cells from it. She doesn't think that it is mast cell since he is so young but just wants to be sure. I am keeping an eye on it, that is for sure!!!

Glad the vet thinks it is nothing. Keep an eye on it though. Bella got her MCT at 7 months old. I think a reaction from her shots did it. Hers was very little and warty like though. She had it on her ear a year cause the vet didn't think it was anything. Found out an MCT can look like anything!! Anyway she had it removed and is fine. Hope your little guys bump goes away real quick.

I just caught this post. I am glad the vet does not suspect anything major. I hate bumps, they all make me nervous.

Well, here it is Monday and Sarge's bump isn't completely gone. It has however gone down alot. I need to get Sarge his heartworm medication so I decided to take him in tomarrow just to be on the safe side. He also has a few little bumps on his ear that the vet doesn't think are anything. Guess we'll see!!
