Bummer New Year for Mister B.

Beasley started off the New Year with about 40 stitches in his ear after having two huge ear hematomas that required more attention than just draining. Half the stitches are on the outside of his ear where the vet used some kind of thin plastic film to help maintain his ear shape during the healing process. The poor guy is wearing the evil e-collar and bumping into everything. Vet didn't find anything in either ear canal during the surgery so we still don't know why he shakes his head all the time. Apparently he flaps his ears around enough to burst the blood vessels :(.

I feel sooooo bad for him ... right now I don't dare take that collar off him with all those stitches, but it's hard for him to eat and drink and he can't play with his KONG or eat any good chewies 'cause he can't hold onto them with his front paws (which is so cute - it's like he has hands!) while chewing. It's got to be a real drag for him.

Mister B. could use some good healing vibes and virtual hugs from his BW pals.

Awww.....I'm sorry Beasley. What a way to start the new year. Hugs and even holding your little squishy face and giving you kisses would be hard wearing the evil collar. You can tell how much you are loved (cute gallery ) and you will be good as new in no time.

Willis here... sorry you're not feeling good. I am going to send you lots of licks to feel better. I'd hold your cuz for you if we lived any closer. I don't know where you live, but mom said it was far. I was going to get mom to give you a cookie, but I'll just have one for you if you don't mind.

I just wanted to give you a tip on that e-collar... I had one on for a week when I got neutered and I crashed into everything all the time. I pretended not to mind it, but one day when mom and dad were out I worked extra hard on it and pulled it off and chewed it. That didn't work because mom taped it back together. So the next time, I worked extra extra hard and chewed it into 50 pieces. Then I didn't have to wear it anymore! Good luck!!! Oh, and until you get it off, the collar makes a good toy holder... you can carry them around in there.

He's had it on for almost a week and has to keep it on until the stitches come out, which isn't for another 10 days! YUK!

Ooohhh! Great idea, Willis! I wonder if I could carry my KONG inside my collar so I could nibble on the stuffin' when I got hungry...hmmm. I'm so glad I have my boxer buddies to keep me clued in on how to handle these difficult situations!
