My new digital camera's LCD screen broke. No one seems to have part for me to repair nor are there any camera repair shops around me. Has anyone ever sent a camera to be repaired by the manufacturer before? If so, how long did it take. I'm still under warranty, but I don't want to send my camera off for repair and not get it back for a long time! Any advice?

My Aunt's broke while under warranty. They sent her a new one to a ups store, the ups worker just swapped the cameras out.

That just stinks!!!!! Sorry :(
I would think it would take a while before you get it back from the Manufacturer. How long have you had the camera for? The store would not let you return/exchange it?

Good Luck!

I've had it since June. It's too late to bring it back. It was my fault that it broke since I put it in my purse and not a camera bag. I guess I might as well attempt to send it to manufacturer since I have no other choice. Thanks for the advice.

It is very common to have to send cameras back to the manufacturer for repair. Most camera shops would not be able to repair it for you. Cameras are just too complicated. I had a HP camera that I had to send in for repair.

That is why I bought a screen protector for mine I thought something like that might happen.

You may want to have them give you an estimate on the repair first. Even if it is under warranty, they may charge you since it was your fault. If they do charge you, it maybe cheaper for you just to buy a new camera instead of fixing your broken one. Of course that depends on what kind of a camera it is. I would just hate for you to send it off thinking the warranty would cover it and you get a bill that is more than what you paid for the camera or could replace the camera for.
