Anybody elses baby breakout after taking a bath. We switched his shampoo to an aloe vera mix (hypoallergenic) instead of his usual episoothe and daddy really worked it in. He took a bath Sunday night and Monday we really noticed a breakout. Tuesday bumps still there. Today we went to the vet and we bought his usual shampoo and she suggested we bathe him so we did. They seem to be going down. We gave him benadryll. Anyway just wondering if anybody else has gone thru this. How long did it last. The vet said with sensitive skin it happens. We are feeling guilty for being so dumb and changing his shampoo we know he has sensitive skin. Uugh! bad mommy and daddy! Good thing though he doesnt even seem to know that he has bumps. Thank god he is okay.

Update

Today we decided to not give him benadryll or his mild steroid (he has the 4 mg steroid for his environmental allergies....but now since he is on allergy shots he RARELY gets the steroid but maybe twice a month) and his bumps are really down. I am hoping by this evening or tomorrow he will be just fine. I also am just going to be washing his things in special laundry soap. Wisk just came out with a perfume and dye free soap which is a lot less expensive than the dreft.

You may want to switch to an all natural oatmeal shampoo. Also, you really need to make sure that you rinse the shampoo off the skin very thoroughly as dried soap on the skin will cause an alergic reaction. If you dont have one already, a hand held shower head with hose works wonders. Just a little fyi if you didnt know - in the winter months you really dont need to bathe so much. You dont have to use a pesticide shampoo ever. Fleas die in any kind of soapy lather so you can stick with the gentle stuff. Even baby shampoo will kill fleas.
