Hi,

My DH discovered a lump on our boy Rocky's (18mths old) chest/neck area about 10 days ago, it didn't seem to bother Rocky, and as it was a Sunday we decided to leave it and see what happened for a few days...

The next day it had opened up and was bleeding, which looked ghastly on his white chest, I cleaned it with watered down antiseptic and it formed a scab and the swelling (lump) had reduced a lot, almost like it had released some pressure.

We have been in a cycle now for 2/3 days it is healing with a scab formed, but then I think he is scratching it when the healing itches and it is reopening causing more bleeding each time.

I think I will take him to the vet if there is no improvement by Thursday, but wondered if anyone else has had similar problems...

He is eating, running, playing, drinking and 'toileting' (sorry new word made up there) fine.

Also - if anyone has any tips on how to prevent him scratching the wound or how to stop the bleeding quickly that would be great to know too!

Thanks,
Louise

I would definitely get it checked out. It could just be that he keeps irritating so that it won't heal, but it could also be cancer. :(

I would definately get it checked out. But we had a friends boxer we watched for over a week and he had a bleeding lump on his leg. (I forget what it was but It wasn't too serious) They were havign the hardest time getting it to go down and heal. We have a pool cover over our pool and the water is still in there well they run on the pool cover like it's a trampoline and drink and play in the water that comes up through. A mixture of cholorine water and peroxide cleanzings 3 or 4 times a day signifigantly reduced the size and bleeding. SOmething to think about.

That has happened to Roxy a couple of times. Once underneath on her inner thigh and the other on her toe. The inner thigh keeps oozing and bleeding. I took her to the vet and they found part of a twig jammed in her leg! She must have been running and ran over a plant or something and it jammed a tiny little twig in there. The toe thing ended up being a grass seed! Strange what can get in their skin. I hope it is something as simple as that. Keep us posted on what the vet says.
