Biff
Boxer Insane
Buttons now accompanies Biff twice a day on his walks. (Biff also goes with DH about 10.30pm to the park with the laser pen, but Buttons stays in with me)
She is getting lots of exercise, and absolutely revelling in all the attention she gets. But, of course, she is only 12 weeks old and very easily distracted. No point in shouting on her to "come" if she's not looking your way (she is deaf).
So, when she gets too far ahead of us, or starts to follow another dog and/or owner, we have taught Biff a new command "Go fetch your sister!"
Biff runs up to her and herds her back to us! Once we can make eye contact, we give her the "Come" handsign, and up she gallops (knowing there's a treat at the end of it
)
I know this is not ideal, and I have read that it's not a good idea to let a deaf pup become dependant on a hearing dog, but, for now, it's working fine for us
