Bed destruction

My 7.5 month old keeps destroying his beds. He digs, and chews at it until its spewing its stuffing all over. The last one was the most sturdy we could find at the local stores, like a thin denim. Theres always lots of stuff for him to chew and play with in his play pen. Any suggestions on a more durable bed, or his behavior?

Does he do the same thing with Towels or a Blanket? If not I would just give him that instead. We had a Husky years ago that would shred everything we gave her to sleep on etc. She ended up with nothing because we were afraid she would ultimately eat some of it and hurt herself. She was still just as happy and MOMMY and DADDY were even happier since there was no more clean up constantly.
Sometimes they do find one particular blanket or stuffed toy they won't destroy. My mom's poodle was that way. She had the same Baby (stuffed lion) from birth. She slept with it and never destroyed it. Others she did.

Tucker destroys his bed, we have tried everything. We now just give him old sheets or old towels that we are going to throw away and he ends up shreading those too. Thus he ends up sleeping on towel/sheet scraps or the crate bottom. I use to feel bad but then I figured that he likes the cool plastic bottom or doesn't mind that much since he has been doing it for about 2yrs!

I bought Oscar a nice thick crate pad for Christmas. It's about 2 inches thick of orthopedic foam and I didn't think he would tear it up because he doesn't tear up blankets. Boy was I wrong. For about the first week he was ok. Then he tore open a corner and started shredding the foam. I sewed it up and put bitter apple on it. Then he took to another corner. Fixed that corner and put bitter apple around the edge of the entire pad. Then he tore a hole more towards the middle. I'm going to end up spraying the entire bed with the bitter apple.

It made me so mad because this is a really nice bed that wasn't cheap. And I can't figure out why he would tear up the bed but doesn't touch the blankets. Who knows.

I know what you mean....

I have had this same problem with my two, I take that back only with my girl Bella. But I have found a solution....I bought a bed called the DuraBed made of Cordura nylon and it has ties that tie it down to the bottom of the crate. These were not cheap but they have solved the problem of chewed beds. PM me of you would like the web info on this.
