Hello. I am sure some of you women can help me!! I am planning my sister's baby shower. She has been trying to get pregnant for over 8 years now and the time has finally come...I want her shower to be perfect! Any and all ideas will be great. What games can we play and how many do we play? In what order do all the activities come as far as eating, present opening and games go? Tell me everything you know!!! Thank yoU!

For my sister's shower we palyed shower bingo. We made up blank BINGO boards and told the guests to fill them in with items they thing she will get. When she opens a gift they cross off the square. when they get BINGO they get a prize.
Eating is first and then gifts. the BINGO was perfect b/c prizes were given out all through the opening and it actually made the guests pay attention!
Congrats to your sister!

For my sister's shower I made little pacifiers from peppermint lifesavers and little gumdrops in her shower colors, attached them to ribbons and handed out as everyone arrived-with the instruction that if they were caught saying the word "baby" whoever heard it could take the necklace.Whoever had the largest collection at the end of opening the gifts-got a prize. We had a blast with this and necklaces were constantly changing hands :)
Tell your sister we send our congratulations and tons of BW best wishes for a safe, delivery and happy, healthy little one :)

One game to play is to hand out sheets with words relating to babies are scrambled and see how many they can unscramble. aprdei - diaper and so on. You can do another game where you list a tv show and then have the guest write down the childrens names that are in the show. Example - Cosby show - Rudy, Venessa, Theo, Sondra, and Denise.
Another good one is to buy different bottles of baby food and take off the labels and number the bottles. Then have your guests try and guess the flavors in the bottles.
Also, you could make little diapers out of paper towels and put safety pins threw each one. Each guest gets one as they come in the door and they have to pin it to their clothes. Make sure to mark one with a brown marker and that one will be the winner of a prize. One more game would be to get a catalogue and cut out different baby items. Such as crib, high chair, moniter etc. and tape them to a bristol board and have your guest write down what they think the total of all the items add up to. Make sure the calculate as your cutting them out and keep the total somewhere until your ready for it.
Anything else you need to know, just ask I've been to quite a few baby showers, especially in the past few years. I'm 29 and most of my friends already have babies!

We usually play three games at ALL the baby showers here. You give everyone attending a clothespin and a safety pin. The rules are you can't say "BABY" or cross your legs. If you catch someone saying "BABY" you take their safety pin. If you catch someone crossing their legs take their clothes pin. Who ever has the most of clothespins wins a prize. Same for the most safetypins.
Another game is where you fold up napkins into a diaper shape and close with a safety pin. Put some brown mustard into one of the diapers. Pass these out at the door also, later tell everyone to open their diaper and whoever gets the "poop" diaper wins a prize.
I've also heard of a drinking race. Put punch into the short baby bottles and whoever drinks the whole thing fastest wins. You can either specify that it must be drank through the nipple or not to see how many smart ones will take off the nipple to drink faster.

Another game is to collect about 25 baby related items (like a shower invitation, a bootie, a plastic medicine spoon.etc). Attach them to a big board and use as a decoration, maybe on your gift table. part way through the party cover the board with a blanket and have guests write down what they remember seeing on the board. The most right wins a prize.

Measure the size of her stomach before hand and have guests as the come in try to guess how many inches she is. It is funny to see how far off folks are. Another variation is to measure her stomach with a piece of yarn. Then give the ball of yarn to the guests to cut off a piece that they think matches her stomach. Then compare the guests pieces with the original and see who was the closest.

Have a betting pool and guess for the date, time, weight and sex of the baby. Usually the money is donated to the mom to be. Or just have folks write down the sex, weight, birthdate and what they think the name is going to be. Then you just read them aloud and laugh at the things folks come up with. I had fun reading them after the shower.

Another one (although kind of gross) is to melt chocolate candybars in diapers and have folks try to guess what they are. For example, number the diapers 1-7, and hand out pieces of paper with all 7 blank spots for them to right down their guesses. Tabulate the results and give a prize to the one with the greatest amount correct. It makes for great pictures to see a bunch of women smelling diapers and even tasting them!

We played this one for my wedding shower and baby shower...

also my mom handed out clothespins and had everyone write an idea of what the baby's name should be. It was fun because i didnt tell anyone what the name was until my daughter was born.

At showers, we usually make little sandwiches on dinner rolls and have veggie trays/chips/crackers...any kind of snack food, that way people can munch when they feel like it. Then we would pass out cake while the gifts are being opened.

another game you can play is to have everyone write down as many songs they can think of that have "baby" in the lyrics (also works for "love" at a wedding shower) You can also use movie names instead of songs. winner gets a prize!

THIS IS HUGE--have someone sit next to your sister and write who gives what as she opens the gifts...an official recorder. so much easier later.
