So Brady's hematome has returned. He had one a couple of months ago, the vet drained it and put a little cortisone into it and it healed up nicely, no scarring or anything. It got a little puffier but then it went down on its own. The vet said normally they would just leave it be but since I was there, he would go ahead and drain it.
Fast forward to now, it is back, same ear, just a little bigger. I am guessing it is back because once they have one, they are more prone to it again unless they have surgery?
I am now debating on whether or not I should take him to the vet. Should I wait to see if this thing goes down on its own or what? I know it could take a few months to dry up and don't have a problem spending the money to take him to the vet. Not sure if I should waste the time and go through all the hassle for something that will probably resolve itself. Leaving it go may cause more scarring but honestly, I don't care, he is not a show dog and he will be as handsome to us forever and always, no matter what.
Has anyone just let a hematoma resolve itself? Any thoughts on this?
