Aspiration not clear...

The aspiration of the lymph node nearest to the mast cell tumor that Rocky had removed two weeks ago came back unclear. My vet said that it couldn't be confirmed that it was positive for cancer cells, but at the same time it couldn't be confirmed that it was clear of cancer cells either.
So... she recommended putting Rocky on Prednisone for a few months to see if that would slow the growth of new tumors. I'm just not sure. The tumors have both been removed (one didn't have clean margins), he feels great right now and I'm worried about side effects from the meds.
I have also been reading some threads about putting dogs with mast cells on low-carb diets. Does anyone have an opinion on either of these topics?
I would really appreciate the help.

I am sorry to hear about Rocky. I wouldn't want to put him on prednisone for months. :( All dogs with cancer should be on a low Carb diet. Basically that means that you can't feed him kibble. You could look into either feeding him Raw or a cooked homemade diet. Check out the BARF forum.

Can your vet do another aspirate? If he has disease in his lymph nodes, which I hope he doesn't, I would think it should turn up. What did the vet say about this?
