Just curious. My computer crashed about two weeks ago so I had to break down and buy a new one. I got a Macbook Pro. It is a whole diferent animal. I got the one that also runs Windows but I am not installing XP as of yet ecause I am forcing myself to learn the Mac operating system. I knew that going in, but decided to learn something new because I have heard nothing but good about Macs. So I am wondering if anyone else here has one and if you have any tips. Once again, happy Thanksgiving. :)

I have a macbook and i absolutely love it. I've always used a pc prior to purchasing this, and it definitely did take a little bit of time getting accustomed to the mac operating system but after a few hours you'll be hooked. I could not imagine ever having a non mac now. Do you have microsoft office for macs yet? I would definitely recommend purchasing that if you have a need for creating documents on word, powerpoint, excel...etc. Good luck with the new laptop :)

I've been using Macs since 1994 -- I love them! They're easy to use. If you're used to a PC, the drives are different and the keyboard shortcuts are different. Your computer probably came with a user guide but there are a lot of books out there that you can buy to help you learn the ropes.

I want to get a mac but also wonder about the learning curve. My niece got a mac for college and said she learnt very fast. Like you, I have heard nothing but good things. Keep us posted on what you think.

I am computer challenged  and find it very user friendly. I am still learning but already find it superior to my pc at work. ;)

I use a Mac at work, and have a PC at home. I'm used to working on both, so I can't really tell that much of a difference. The layout (where things are located, and the desktop set up) is the major difference. Of course, the keyboard commands/shortcuts are a bit different, but not that much. I doubt you'll have a hard time getting used to the slight nuances.

I am looking for a way to cut and paste onto a notepad like you can do with Windows. I will probably have to end up calling Mac support. It's a good thing I bought three years of service and support.

I have been in the computer industry for 15 years. After all of my experience with Macs and PCs I personally won't even touch a Mac. Their hardware is inferior and software is made for the novice user.

Now before everyone jumps my wagon for bashing Macs let me clarify I didn't say Windows was any better. I said that PC's are better meaning the x86 architecture is better. Give me a PC and Linux over a Mac or Windows PC any day. :)

Instead of buying that super expensive mac...you could just put linux on your current PC for free! Just because Windows is slow or crashes doesn't always mean your PC is broken.

Macs are better than Windows based PC.. If you want to learn Linux It is a lot more stable, does not crash and if there is a malfunction you can still access your files, But -out of the box computer, I like MAC, for people like my DW, DD SIL. They are computer illiterate. For computer geeks like my DS (he has linux as a dual boot on his pc) Linux is the way to go.
