We decided we are going there for our honeymoon. We booked it last week and are staying on Paradise Island. Anyone know of any stuff that we should do while we are there????

It's been a while since I've been to Nassau but if you like wildlife there is an aquarium off the main island that is really interesting. I can't for the life of me remember the name but they have some great exhibits. One of them you walk out a long walkway to a building that is primarily built below the water. You go inside to find lots of windows with fish and such that swim by. They also have touching pools where you can pet the sting rays that swim past you. There is also the straw market when you can get lots of cheap souveniers. But beware, you will be swamped by people wanting to braid your hair for money! I wouldn't take a special trip over to walk around downtown Nassau, both times I was there I thought it was really dirty. Paradise Island is beautiful and almost all resorts so it is kept pretty clean. There is no description for the blue color of the water. It is colors that are only seen in dreams.

That's what I have heard about the water, everyone says it is so beautiful. I was looking on the Bahamas website and they said that they have some of the clearest water in the world. At some points you can see over 200ft into the water. That aquarium sounds fun, I'll have to look for it. DF wants to golf and fish while we are there too. I am sure our hotel will have a conceriege too. Did you have to be careful about the water like in Mexico? We have an all inclusive package, so I was wondering if I should stay away from the yummy frozen drinks.

Enough alcohol in those yummy frozen drinks may kill all the bad stuff in the water!

I don't remember anything about the drinking water but we were on a cruise both times so we were only on land for a day each trip. If I went again, I would probably stick to bottled water. But I agree, alcoholic drinks shouldn't be a problem. I don't remember worrying about those when we were in Mexico and we survived. So - Bottoms up!

Paradise Island is very beautiful and VERY expensive. We stayed at a smaller resort that is at the opposite end of the island than Atlantis. It was run by Marriott, but I don't think they run it any more. You might be able to stay somewhere that has a mini or full kitchen and save a lot of money. You can take a taxi over the bridge to a grocery store when you first get there. Sorry I don't remember too much but it's been a while.

Actually, we got a really good deal at Paradise Island through my friend's time share and our package is all inclusive, so we dont have to worry much about food. I am sure though, that we may venture out for a few meals, but we definitely have the option of eating all of them there and not spending any money on food or drinks.

Jess, I've never been there but have been to Mexico. And everyone warned us about not drinking the water, etc........well we were sure to never drink the water the whole time we were there.......but once we got home, we realized........um, yeah.......every single drink we had, came with ice in it.....made from......WATER........LOL........so really, we did probably injest a good amount of the water and none of us had any issues. I think if you are at a resort type place, you will be fine no matter what you drink. HAVE A FUN HONEYMOON!!!! I want to see pictures when you get back!!!!
