Chase is a 3yr. old male fawn/black mask who weighs in around 90 some lbs. Everybody thinks he is so big for a boxer and say they have never seen one as big as him. His parents were large also, so he seemed normal to me. Anybody else have large boxers? Is this normal?

90 pounds!!!WOW!!!!I bet your food expenses for Chase are phenomenal! There are a few boxer owners on the board who have very large boxers. I found this out when I asked if my 6 month old weighing 51 pounds was a good weight. Apparently, with boxers, there can be vast differences in weight. Also, from reading the posts...their weight can go up and down according to their activity level. Mine seems heavy for his age, yet his ribs still show. Maybe my Boomer will end up as big as your Chase!
Sincerely,
Julie

My Indy is about 90 pounds, too! He has very long legs and is very mooshy and soft. All of his features are big - ears, long lean body, eyes, feet, etc. He's adorable! He is bigger than any boxer I've ever had, but I don't think he's all that unusual..

Cooper is 70 lbs, I guess that is heading toward big. He is 15 months and has weighed that since we adopted him at 9 months.

We like pictures... :) Can't wait to see Chase and Boomer!

My male is 21 months now and weighs 87 lbs. He has long legs, but is just a big football player type! I think he is a miniature Mastiff! He is a little too chubby and I am trying to hold the line on his weight so we don't have problems as he gets older. Dieting is never fun and this boy never met a morsel he didn't like.

People say the same thing about Remy all the time. He's about 85 lbs. But he's not fat, just very muscular.

I think there are big variances in sizes of boxers. I always thought they were on the medium-large scale, but some are not.

I met a woman with a very petite boxer in Remy's obedience class (like half the size of Remy). I couldn't believe her dog was a boxer--it was so small! I thought maybe there was a miniature boxer breed I was unaware of.

At the end of the class, I finally talked with her. We were both shocked. She couldn't believe Remy was a boxer--she said he was a "monster." She thought her dog was average size. I said her dog was tiny. Oh well!

Tyson is 25 months and weighs 71 lbs. He doesn't have any fat on him. Everyone tells me he's large for a Boxer. Every thing I have read states Boxers should weigh between 50 lbs and 70 lbs so I guess he's not too large. Pru's dad (my 1 year old female) weighed 90 lbs, he was very tall. Pru didn't turn out near as big she only weighs about 55 lbs but we kind of figured she would be on the small side since she only weighed 3 lbs at 6 weeks. We're hoping Sheeba our 7 1/2 month old female will be more Tyson's size. She weighs about 55lbs and is already taller than Pru. I prefer larger dogs but according to the AKC standard the Boxer is a medium sized dog. AKC doesn't give exact weight limits, only height. It says a male shouldn't be under the minimum nor a female over the maximum: however, proper balance and quality should be most important since there is no size disqualification. So since there is no size disqualification I would think 90 lbs is fine as long as the dog isn't over weight, just big boned and muscular.
