Zeke is 2 yrs old and very allergic to..everything! The last time he had an episode he had gotten ahold of popcorn and ended up at the vet for treatment and antibiotics. We have found one type of hypoallergenic treat for him, but thats it. His dog food doesnt bother him. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue and knew of any treats that he may be able to tolerate!

Thanks for any suggestions!!

I'm confused.
Did he have an allergic reaction to the popcorn?
If so why did he receive antibiotics?
Unless he had a reaction AND he scratched himself raw AND he developed a secondary skin infection, then I see the point. Otherwise I remain confused.
Unless you do an elimination diet or have him undergo allergy testing (which isn't all it's cracked up to be), you won't know what he can have and can't have.
My girl is highly allergic to damn near everything, including herself, (her own yeast), but does really well if I keep her away from things I know she reacts to. Being allergic and reacting to the allergens are different things.
My girl can't have pineapple or honey. EVER. She breaks out in hives within minutes. She breaks out in hives for a number of other reasons but they are localized, not generalized.
She scratches due do inhalent and contact allergies.
Hives are easily treated it's the "other" symptoms that are hard to control, (itching, scratching, runny nose, etc....).
You have to find out HOW they are allergic and WHAT it is they are allergic to in order to make the situation livable.
My dog is allergic to cat dander but lives in harmony with her cat sister. I can't keep them apart and I can't rid the cat of her dander! But I do vacuum all the time and the cat has her hair brushed every day. It's not perfect but it makes a HUGE difference.
It took at minimum of a year to perfect our system. Some things are easily correctable, others are hit and miss.
If your dog can eat dog food fine then I would buy a food and have THAT be the treat. They don't know the difference, they just know they are getting something "special"!
Only give this food as a treat and the regular food for meals.

Thanks! The popcorn caused him to become ill... He ended up with pancreitis from a corn cob, therefore when he got ahold of the popcorn we took him to the vet before he got very ill like the first time. Im assuming they gave him the same antibiotics from the corn cob episode so that he would not develop pancreitis He basically breaks out in hives from everything too. We cannot give him treats that contain moisture or dye. We thought about the allergy testing, but decided against it. He is just limited to very little. But I guess like you said, as long as its something different from his food it is a treat to him!

Just a tip, our vet told us when he breaks out in the hives we can give him benadryl. They said he can have one every once in awhile with out it causing any harm. We gave him half a pill up until he turned 1, and now we give him a whole one if he has a really bad breakout!

Thanks again!

My girl takes Benedryl every day, twice a day. It is not for allergies, the dose is too low to be of much help but she takes it for mast cell cancer therapy.
For hives when they happen now (very rare), she gets an additional pill but they don't have any effect on her getting sleepy any more. Her body is used to them in that respect but it does help with the hives.
Sorry to hear about the pancreatitis. That is a scary thing. Hubby has it so I know how devastating it can be.
Good-Luck with the allergies!
