An Idea of Mine Actually Worked!

Here's the deal . . . in Wagner's crate I usually try and put a nice, cozy blanket for him to sleep on. Problem is, every time he gets in, it gets bunched up, smooshed all around and I don't actually think he gets to sleep on it. When I put his toys in during the day (when I'm at work) I wonder if he can actually find them in this bunched up blanket!

So, I was garage saling on Saturday and found a small carpet remnent (never used) for $1.00. I snatched it up and brought it home and cut it to fit the bottom of his crate. It fits perfectely and it doesn't move an inch when he gets in or sleeps at night. I am thrilled to beans about this whole thing and had to share it with you all. You probably think I'm a nutball!

We joke around now that Wagner has wall-to-wall carpeting in his pad and he'll be asking for a mini-fridge soon!

Your so lucky!!...we went through two pillows, a blanket, and then carpet, and then hay, in the kennel, before deciding they preferred bare plywood there. The pillows were inside zipped cover, and they still managed to strew foam everywhere (all over the lawn). Blanket got shredded, and carpet, tacked down, got removed and chewed up.

They have not yet destroyed the indoor cushion, but they've given it a damn fine try!

No I don't think you're a nutball, I think you're a genius. Wondering why I didn't think of that myself LOL.

My 2 don't chew anything in the crate, but the sherpa gets bunched up and they end up lying on the bare plastic. So I think I'll try the carpet idea too!

Thanks for the info :)

When we renovated the living room we took the old carpet and underlay out and put hardwood floor in. The underlay we used for something else and we happened to have some left over!! So, guess who has underlay in his crate? His old towels and blanket go on top, I think Sergeants bed is more comfortable than ours. He used to tear things when he was a puppy, but not any more.

carpet is a great idea! i have throw rugs on the very bottom and on top of those i have those long pillows for lawn furniture. i was worried about harley trying to eat the buttons off of them so i watched him very close when i first bought them.so far he isn't interested at all in the buttons. he's only in there to sleep at night and is totally worn out when he goes to his crate after the big night time run and play.
i will definately be looking for carpet now! duh! lol lol

I put a small carpet sample (the ones with finished edges) in their outside dog house. Bailey chewed the edging off. :(
