What are your thoughts on getting a puppy that is 3 -4 months old? Are they harder to train to the basics since you didn't get them at 8 weeks & start earlier with their training?

Thanks for all your help & info!

I would think they would be easier to train them and their blatter is a bit larger. I know I talked previously to a breeder that had a couple older pups and she told me that they were basically potty trained just from following the older dogs. She told me they were easier to train but of course she was trying to sale one to me. But they grow so quickly it realy doesn't matter and they are probably past the whinning stage. No matter what age I love a boxer. Good luck with your decesion.....

I got my boy at three months and he was very easy to train but I would add it does depend on how he is being trained now. The breeder I got Fraze from did not do a great job with that, but still he was very quick to learn. And 3-4 months is not an unusual time to get a pup. Good luck :)

We got our boy at 13 weeks old and the breeder not only had not trained him at all, but also gave him BAD habits! He was VERY hard to get potty trained (nearly a year) and the idiot gave them a real tennis shoe to play with. It took about a year and a half to break him of shoes and I still have to watch him around my Sketcher tennis shoes!

So, I would just say, check out the breeder to make sure she has been working with them!

I never had puppies until we got Keeta. Keeta is 1wk shy of 4mths and we have had her since she was 7wks old. It seems to me that it is now easier with her being older to train her then it was when she was 8-10 weeks. Next time we decide to get a pup we will be looking for an older pup... but that will be awhile since we have two pets in the house already..lol
