Ok. .i have an issue here.
Snatch (4) and Oxford (7month old) seem to have terrible gas with chicken based food.

i found Eagle pack lamb and they are doing great on it.. but... it's only 22% protein and has chicken fat and beet pulp :(

any idea?

all the puppy food i look at have 26-28% protein.. i feel like an horrible mom!!!! :(

i though about tatse of the wild (fish one) .. i think it's 25% protein.. would this be enough for my puppy? :)
it's so hard to get good protein content with no-chicken food!!

There are quite a few options you could try :)

Taste of the Wild's Pacific Stream should be perfectly fine for both dogs. Other good non-chicken options would include Canidae Lamb formula, the Fromm Four star range, Nature's Variety Prairie range, and most of Timberwolf Organics formulas (perhaps excluding black forest and wild and natural).

If you really like the Eagle Pack though, you could just consider adding additional meat, eggs, or other high quality protein sources to their diet.

thank you so much for your response :)
everyone seem quite mad at timberwolf for changing their formula.. they still seems quite good to me :)
also, is chicken fat a problem in dog food?

Not strictly a problem - although if your individual dog(s) don't do well on it, then it would probably be a wise idea to choose a food without it. There is a school of thought that says oils are better ingredients than animal fats (which I'd be more inclined to agree with if it could be guaranteed that oils in dog food were virgin products (i.e. not used cooking oils)).

TW is a great food. I think folks were annoyed (I was) that they changed the formula but were not forth coming about it, and at the same time raised the price. Also, during the food recalls, they would not disclose where thier food was made. I had called and they just were not forthcoming. But my dogs have been on it for quite some time and have done great. I am only switching because it is time to rotate their food (and because they did annoy me a little). If I am not happy with the one I am switching to I would not hesitate to feed TW again. I feed the Bison and they love it and you can supplement it with home cooked if you like. Good luck

we got Merrick! the Wildnerness blend one. it's 25% protein with Buffalo, Venison and Salmon... they love it! Snatch actually drools when i open the bag! :)
i'm switching over slowly.. i hope this one can become a good rotation :)
